dc.description.abstractotrodiomaThe main interest of this exploratory study is to know the psychological meaning of the "family" among junior (n=80) and high school students (n=80) of both sexes. The paper includes a theoretical review of the dimensions of "family" as a concept that reveals the importance of parental support as one of the main constituting areas of the concept among youth. Differences in educational level and sex were established. Junior high school women showed more semantic richness than high school men. Results reveal certain congruence with research reported recently. Three dimensions were interrelated: affective, the family structure and parental support. These dimensions place the family as an important source for emotional and affective resources.es_ES
