dc.description.abstractEl objetivo es identificar correlatos de depresión, ideación e intento suicida en adolescentes. Participaron 508 hombres y 428 mujeres estudiantes en el Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de México, cuya edad promedio fue de 13,7 años. El cuestionario fue autoaplicable. Los resultados indican que los estudiantes con depresión y/o ideación suicida tienen más conflictos con padre/madre, y reportan que sus padres discuten por problemas económicos; tienen menor autoestima y no tienen una buena relación con padre/madre; son impulsivos y usan respuestas de afrontamiento agresivas. La prevalencia de intento suicida fue en hombres: 7% y mujeres: 17%. Los/as estudiantes impulsivos presentan más riesgo con antecedente de intento suicida. En hombres, el afrontamiento agresivo también se asocia con un riesgo mayor. En mujeres, el tener conflictos con padre/madre presenta riesgo mayor, así como que sus padres discutan por problemas económicos. Estos resultados contribuyen en la prevención para identificar estudiantes en riesgo para su referencia oportuna a servicios de salud.es_ES

The objective is to identify correlates of depression, suicidal ideation and suicide attempt in adolescents. 508 males and 428 females, with a mean age of 13.7, from the Center of Mexico City, participated. A self-administered questionnaire was applied. The results indicate that students presenting depression and/or suicidal ideation have higher conflict levels with their father and/or mother, their parents argue over economic problems, lower self-esteem, higher levels of impulsivity, do not have a good relationship with their father and/or mother, and use aggressive coping responses. The prevalence of suicide attempt in men is 7% and in women is 17%. Impulsive women and men had higher risk of previous suicide attempt. For men, aggressive coping responses were associated with higher risk. For women, having a conflictive relationship with the father and/or mother and that the parents argue about economic problems indicated a greater risk. These results could contribute to prevention to identify students at risk to facilitate timely reference to health mental services.es_ES
