dc.description.abstractotrodioma | BIOFEEDBACK CAN provide a link between the autonomic and central nervous system functions. It is a procedure that makes certain physiological processes susceptible to control and learning by means of a feedback loop between the responses of a subject and the displays of an electronic system. The information channels thus formed facilitate the self regulation of specific physiological parameters, e.g. electroencephalographic activity, skin temperature etc., which has a wide range of clinical applications. Today, the biofeedback equipment which is commercially available in underdeveloped countries, only processes less than four of those parameters and is generally found in the form of expensive imported sets. The need for a locally developed and constructed hardware system which could operate both inter- and independently with several variables and be suitable either to research or clinical practice purposes became clear. This note describes a biofeedback system designed to meet this need which comprises interchangeable electronic modules which measure six distinct variables: skin temperature and galvanic response, heart rate, respiratory rate, electromyographic (EMG) and electroencephalographic (EEG) activities. The system consists of a general circuit which interconnects sensors, the six modules and displays. Outputs are also provided for future interfaces and computer-based analysis. | es_ES |
